The Underground PS2 Tutorial Table of Contents

With all the good PS2 articles on this Underground Blog, I have the feeling that some of you guys find our tutorials through a search engine, but are totally unaware that we have other awesome articles as well.

As a way to say thank you, I have decided to write up this table of contents for all PS2 mod related stuff. This will help keep things organized, and you, the user, will know of tutorials that never existed. Of course, if you go to the right and select the categories tab and look at Playstation 2 Mod Tutorials, you will find all the tutorials related to PS2.

  9. HI,i had download a silent hill origins recently and i try to burn it on DVD,but the problem is the RAR file that i downloaded is different with what u all teaching above. My rar contain the file is like the file you can find on the PS2 DVD while u put in in ur rom,the image file i got is only 268KB..what wrong os that and how should I burn success ?

  10. This is too weird. How can this be even right? The file that you downloaded is a .RAR, but the contents of it is the game contents.

    Are you sure that the file you downloaded is not an .ISO file, but just mistaken as a RAR archive icon instead?

    Anyhow, how can the image file only be 268KB, that is way too small! 2.68 GB I understand, but not 268KB. Try this torrent instead:

  11. the link u gave me is the file i downloaded…silent hill origins usa blah blah balh…the file i got inside the RAR is MODULES,MOVIES, MUSIC< SYSTEM, some other file as well.The whole file is 2.86GB which is same as the link u gave me, but the image file is only 268KB…god,this driving me crazy yesterday night.

  12. anyway..how can i change the file format from RAR to ISO, i searched on internet but i cant get help..What i mean is, i want to change the format by rename the file,on internet,they all said it just need to change it like filename.rar to filename.iso,i tried it,but when i pressed F2 and rename it,it doesnt change anything

  13. Here do this: Copy and paste the file to the root drive of your C drive, or any partition. Let me make an example. Say my game is Silent.RAR, and I put it in the C drive in a folder called temp.

    Open command line, start -> run -> cmd:
    Type:

    cd temp
    rename *.rar *.ISO

    This will take your RAR file and rename it to .ISO format.

    To verify this, type dir and you will see your file with the .ISO format.

    Try to burn this, and let me know if this works.

HI, the file i downloaded firsttime is not complete on emule which mean it might contain some broken file in it,thats wht,this morning finally i got the complete file show that its ISO format,i just think everything will be fine as this is the first time i download PS2 game and burn it myself,so i try to burn,but NERO didnt give me any option for speed that i want to burn so it burn on 8X,but when i put this game on,i hang on the language section….god..so frustrate. So i try to use DVD-RW cause the max speed is $X…so can i ask,if i burn the ISO on RW,can i copy the RW into the normal DVD on NERO and how to burn success?

  15. PS2 does not read RW discs, so don’t even try. Plus, the RW disc can be bad for your laser.

  16. hey..you know what..i had try Ashampoo 6 and it work fine now..well..the first time i chose 4X speed to burn and when i try to play..the CG is lag,but then i burn again andi chose 2.4X…now..its work perfectly..my god…thanks for ur advise anyway…i no need to ask my frind to buy me a copy and send it to me now..i can burn it myself…woooooo

  17. Let me tell you a true story. I have 2 fat ps2s, one is version 1, and other is version 7.

    Now I burnt a game at 4x, and played it on version 1 ps2, and the game was very skippy and choppy.

    I tried the same disc on version 7 ps2, and it worked fine!

    The conclusion? If the in game movies are skippy, don’t rule out a bad disc. It could just be your PS2 laser. If one disc doesn’t work well, try a different burn speed. Rule of thumb, burn at half the max speed, but some games are the exception.

    You CANNOT go wrong burning at the slowest speed. Take care.

  19. I started last year when I got my used PS2, and then I spent like 2 weeks studying the art of PS2 backups and everything.

    Everything I wrote here I have done myself, so I know what I’m talking about.

  21. Yes, that is correct. The bin file is equivalent to an .ISO file.

    Nero or similar burning programs will be able to read this fine.
