Music and your health.
Music can have many effects our health, positively or negatively. There has always been localized debate about whether music genres like metal, heavy rock and the like can cause rage or anger in a person and arguments alike. One thing we can’t argue is calming music can help us relax and focus. So music does something with our mind no matter what kind it is but what music influences which behaviors?
It’s mostly about the beat. Music like techno can “stimulate brainwaves to resonate in sync with the beat, with faster beats bringing sharper concentration and more alert thinking”. We’ve all surely experienced the annoyance of someone rambling at a fast and sporadic pace. On and on and on, with a symphonic repetition of dissonance. Sometimes it even gives us headaches. Modern rock and heavy metal can mock this type of sound and beat causing headaches and possible anger related moods.
Music can be easily used for several types of therapy as well. It can mentally and medically help with depression and anxiety as well as lower blood pressure which can boost immunity, ease muscle tension among other things.
Some quick summarized tips:
- Take a bath instead of a shower while listening to something with a slow tempo (I personally recommend the music of Nobuo Uematsu or Nobuo at YouTube)
- Put some techno on softly in the background while doing homework or working (if your boss allows it). Again I recommend Daft Punk or Daft Punk at YouTube.
- Try not to indulge by listening heavy and off beat music while in negative moods. It’s tempting, but try your best not to.
“…music therapy is an important discipline…”

Thanks for the information on music and health.
We recently wrote an article on how music is good for your health at Brain Blogger. A study in “Critical Care Medicine” evaluated stress levels after patient had listened to some piano sonatas. The results were amazing, but one composer in particular showed the most results when their music was played; Mozart.
We would like to read your comments on our article. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kelly
