The Next Underground “Project” – A Community Experiment

So we just got off with releasing the E-book, and already here I am talking about the next Underground project. This time is not a book, but something a little bit easier and simpler to do (in a relative sense).

However, let’s try to make this next project special. The success of this project will depend on the success and contribution of the community.

Stop beating around the bush, what is the project?

So the other day at work I was browsing one of our competitor websites, and they had a video they had created that is on their website.

It was interesting, because the video showed a little bit of their products, but it was more about the values they cherish in this company. The music was inspiring to hear and the video just showed clips of people talking to the camera and explaining why their company is the best and why customers can always depend on them to pull through.  The special effects in the video were very simplistic, but it got the message across.

After watching the video, you felt this company knew exactly what it was doing, the direction it was heading, and you could tell this company was all about business and when they say something, they mean it and prove it.

So what does that have to deal with the Underground?

I like to look and watch things and have my mind cranking with thoughts.  You look at an apple and you say “I want to eat it.”

I look at that apple and I go “Hmm, that would be a great item for my 3 man slingshot!”

So after watching this video at work, I got thinking: “How cool would that be if I could do something with the blog?”

Granted, I know how to use Adobe After Effects.  Here is my vision.  Imagine this:  You are watching maybe like a 2 minute short. This video is a collection of sound bytes from real viewers like you and me who are answering these questions about the underground and why they do what they do.

Let me paint a picture.  Since it is ridiculously hard to get people willing to show themselves on camera, all I want then is a voice recording of volunteers answering my questions.  What the list of questions is going to be I need your help finalizing, but here is a pretend scenario:

* Why do you participate in the Underground?

(sentimental pictures in the background with the question as 3d text)

– Audio answer from volunteer 1 chimes into the video

– Audio answer from volunteer 2 chimes into the video

– Audio answer from volunteer 3 chimes into the video

– and so forth to the last volunteer

* What does the Underground mean to you?

– Audio answer from volunteer 1 chimes into the video

– Audio answer from volunteer 2 chimes into the video

– Audio answer from volunteer 3 chimes into the video

– and so forth to the last volunteer

This goes on and on depending on how many questions we have. The answers from the volunteers can be short (10 seconds) or as long as a minute or two minutes.

Of course, I will also have my answers too to really bring it home.  Sounds interesting, right?

So let’s do this. Let’s figure out what the list of questions needs to be. Once we have that pinned down, then the next step is where you can send your audio files to me with the answers to the list of questions. We will have to do this one step at a time.  Below is a list of questions, please leave a comment and help me fine tune this.

Clarification: When I say Underground, I mean the concept of the Underground. This is everything within the scene. It does not necessarily mean the Blog, or what we do here, although that might have an influence on your answer.
