Downloading music to iPhone/Touch Without iTunes over WiFi

Ok, after much tinkering, I figured out how I can download music to my iPod Touch… AND LISTEN TO THEM FREE!! Ok, here it is.

First:

Download this .zip file:

Plugins.zip

Then extract it to a SAFE place.

Second:

I wrote out almost the whole tutorial and then realized I left out a few steps. I found this helpful video that will be much better at explaining the steps. Sorry. The files he talks about is the link I posted above. If you have any questions, please comment and I will answer them ASAP.

How To ‘JailBreak’ Your iPhone/Touch

I recently purchased an iPod Touch for myself for Christmas! As soon as I took it home,Not My Pic what was the first thing I had to do? Hack the crap out of it!! But there was only one problem, the iPod touch comes with the 1.1.2 Firmware which has not been jail broken yet as far as I know. One reason I am writing this tutorial is because of the lack of explaining other sites do. They say here it is, do it. In this tutorial, I will explain step-by-step how to downgrade your iPod and JailBreak it.

First Step:

The first step is to make sure there is NOTHING on your iPod that you would like to save. Downgrading will erase your music.

Second Step:

Download and save the following file. This file is the 1.1.1 firmware for the iPod Touch/iPhone.

1.1.1 Firmware

Third Step:

Open iTunes and click on your iPod so it brings up the screen to update or restore your iPod. While holding the shift key, click on update. This will bring up a file browser. Browse to where you saved your 1.1.1 Firmware and double click it. Let iTunes do its thing. It will extract and do other crap to your iPod. When it is finished, your iPod will restart and be blank.

Fourth Step:

With the 1.1.1 firmware now on the iPod, you are ready to JailBreak it. Click Safari and navigate to:

http://www.jailbreakme.com

Read the instructions and click Install at the bottom of the page. This will install a .tiff file and also restart the iPod.

Fifth Step:

After restarting, there will be an Installer.app on the main screen. Click this and at the bottom, click install. There will be TONS of 3rd party apps for you to play with! A favorite of mine is the nes emulator.

If you have any questions, leave them here and I will do my best to answer them!

Happy Hacking!!

Demonoid Down…. Again

Demonoid

Demonoid has gone down again and again for threats directed to the website. Today however, the threat has been to the hosting company through which Demonoid is renting servers from. The staff at Demonoid has made the home page into the following message:

“The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.”

I have no idea how long they will be down, but something tells me they will be back in some form. No one can hold down the power of the Underground P2P network!

NEWS:

I just tried running my torrents, and to my surprise, the Demonoid trackers are DOWN.  This does not look good for Demonoid.

What Is P2P?

p2p?

What exactly does P2P mean? Well, it’s only the best thing ever invented. P2P stands for Peer to Peer. This is the fastest and most widely used way to transfer files over the internet or a home network. Recently, P2P has been used to download media such as movies, programs, music, pictures, or even books. It has been recorded that about 85% of all internet bandwidth is being used for ‘illegal’ downloading from a P2P network. But how exactly does P2P work?

P2P, is usually thought to run off of a centralized server containing all of the media being downloaded, but oh contraire. P2P uses only client based nodes, simply put, you are in another persons computer. The P2P software you are using simply allows you to ‘share’ the media you would like others to be able to download. For example, in LimeWire, you can share a folder by choosing Tools>Options>Sharing.

From here, you can share any folder on your hard drive. These files then become visible to anyone searching for a file currently on your computer. They are then able to download this file directly from your computer over the internet.

With torrent clients, all you have to do to share a file, is to let the download finish, but DON’T delete the torrent, let it sit and allow others to upload, or take that file off of your computer(otherwise known as ‘seeding’)

As for security, the only real threat is the well know viruses that bored computer geeks make in their spare time 🙂 . When downloading a file from ANY P2P network, I would recommend reading all comments about the selected file, or looking at the size. If you see the size of a selected movie to be 123.4KB, think again. How could a 2 hour long movie be that small? This is a trick which most noobs fall for. I have had numerous friends have their computers completely screw from doing this.

And as for the legality of this, you decide. I will tell you my opinion in a further post!

If you have any further questions, please comment and I WILL comment back!

Thanks,

Demonator

Goodbye Demonator

Thats Me!

As of October 9, 2007, the Demonator has been down. This was caused by no one other than, my Dad. As bad as this sounds, it’s true. If anything changes, you all will be the first to find out.

On a brighter note, I would like to tell you all that I am the newest member of the Underground. I will mostly be posting on Peer to Peer topics. But occasionally, I will post other topics. If you have any P2P tutorials you would like to see, please leave a comment and I will post it as soon as I can. As of now, here is my schedule for the near future:

–What is P2p file sharing, and what are the different types

–Legality of P2P file sharing

–How to use torrents and what are the top sites

This as far as I have gotten so far. I will post as often as I can, but this is my senior year in high school, so I’m pretty busy.

Thanks Everyone!
