4-5-10: Initial release.
Today someone on Yahoo Messenger had asked me which is better, Windows XP or Windows 7 because my co-host HelloMe7 said that Windows 7 was utter junk (actually, he said something else but I will keep it clean) and he wanted my opinion.
Not that I want to start a brand name war or anything but does anyone know whats the best single slot graphics card you can get. Currently my PC right now has 4GB ram a intel E6750 cpu and a NVIDIA 9800GT 1GB DDR3 graphics card. I bought my PC last year and so far it’s ran every game on max settings with a decent frame rate (60fps). Games I’ve got are COD6, Source Engine games (hl2), Bioshock 1 an 2 an few others.
Now your probably wondering why does this retard ask about a graphics card when he’s already got a decent frame rate. Well that reason is Crysis, after actually buying the game( so unlike the pirateer that I am) I’m still upset that I cant get it running at 60 fps on average. Boohooh, an yes I’ve overclocked my card to 750mhz on the core 1850mhz on the shaders and 935mhz on memory.
Crazy I know… so if you know anything please reply, those with the best reply’s, will have their dreams come true by me buying the graphics card they suggest and putting it in my PC. Ok, it won’t be your dreams… and yes I’ll post the pics of the new card.
The underground has been here for quite some time now and have helped many people.
Although helping them in text format is all good and well and with the new Underground e-book coming out why stop there? and why not expand our horizons a little? or.. a lot?
The Underground official chatroom and i dont mean this like skype where you might talk to one Underground member. But I mean something like ventrilo where the underground members can login and join the room and get troubleshooted through there or just have a talk, start a few games why not? i mean im sure by now the Underground members are well aware of tunngle by now thanks to VersatileNinja i feel that this idea will help promote the Underground for what it does but help a lot more people in a simpler environment although i have not ran this idea through anyone this is why this blog is here.
As i hope you are aware of a program called logmein although i bet this idea will be shun and not taken seriously but hear me out.
This program brings troubleshooting to a whole new level and long with a chat function from the Proposition above getting help couldnt be easier with an underground member guiding you through what you do though with logmein or taking over the operation entirely
I believe this may cause some people to worry about some security issue’s im sure in a community like this that should not be a problem ( also in logmein you can block the remote user taking control and let them observe and guide you through).
THIS HAS BEEN TESTED!
I use this system of logmein and a voice chat (skype) and i find it makes the process infinitely easier and a lot quicker than the regular text base help.
But Armsdealer? theres tutorials on the internet!
True but each computer is different and some steps may need a work around and with someone there doing it specifically for your needs will make your life easier and probably theres because they dont need to reply to a million comments but instead promote this site 🙂
It’s just about here! October 22nd is the release of the new operating system from Microsoft. I’ve been running the RTM version for quite a while now that was on the Technet networks, but I will definitely be getting a new copy of Windows 7 very soon.
I’ve run all the betas since last November, and I am psyched that the new OS is almost here. I can’t believe it. It really is the successor to Vista, so that begs the question: Why would you even buy Vista now that Windows 7 is here? Well…you don’t!
Are you getting Windows 7? If not right away, then when? I will be installing it for sure along with my Windows XP (only to run some nit picky XP programs although I may have to try this new XP virtual machine software).
When I first heard of Google Voice, I had NO clue what this was all about. Nada. I slowly found out information through the various postings online, then was finally moved to make an account. But then I started thinking. How useful can Google Voice really be for someone like me? Most people I know use a phone. Not an iPhone or an Android phone, but a regular phone. Some with unlimited texting, some without. What benefits are we (or just me) getting here? If I want to make a phone call, why would I ever want to make it through Google Voice if I could just dial away on my cell phone?
But then I found out that you could send free text messages. Hooray! That’s useful. But then I realized, it’s only free if its not forwarded to your mobile device. Ok, so I disabled my phone in the gVoice settings, but now what? I’m getting free texts, but only when I have wifi. So what else can I do with this thing? I don’t have a lot of phones that I want to sync with 1 number. I don’t get too many voicemails. Nor do I have a serious need to screen calls. And I don’t change my number, so this “universal” number isn’t a big deal.
But then I found something that would make this whole deal a little more worthwhile. Free calling from a computer. As a heavy computer user, making free calls from my computer would save a whole lot of time, plus it would allow me to keep my hands free off an actual phone. Can’t use bluetooth all the time, needs some recharging, plus my phones are never around when I need it.
1) Make a Google Voice account. Then head over to gizmo5.com and sign up for an account there.
2) After signing up for Gizmo, you can download the software if you so choose (I did, but you can make calls via a web browser.) Then go to my.gizmo5.com, go to the settings page, enter your gVoice number, and enable the gVoice setting.
3) Scroll down and copy your gizmo SIP number. You won’t need to ever use this number again, just copy it for now. Go back to voice.google.com and set up a new phone via the settings tab. Use the SIP number from gizmo and set the phone type to gizmo.
4) Follow the standard Google Voice procedures to enable the gizmo phone. I downloaded the software, so it was easy to use the num keypad to enter the confirmation number.
5) Now you can go to gizmocall.com to test your mic, or use the gizmo program itself.
Here’s how to place a call using the Gizmo program.
Start the Gizmo program, and log into it. Then go to the gVoice page. Place a call like normal, but use the Gizmo phone instead of your normal phone. The Gizmo program should then ring, pick up and follow the standard gVoice phone call procedure.
Do NOT place a call in the Gizmo program itself, you will be charged. Make all calls via the gVoice site. Also, any calls made to your gVoice number will ring your Gizmo program, so you can leave it open if you want to receive calls.
And that’s it! For support, contact us or go to Lifehacker.
The latest news from NVIDIA involves the release of their latest graphics card and the soon-to-be-released new core.
NVIDIA has just released the GeForce GTX 275, which is like a trimmed down GTX 285 and is the equivalent of a single GPU concealed in the Dual-GPU Card, the GTX 295. NVIDIA released this to battle and counter ATI’s card, the Radeon 4890. This card fills the gap between the GTX 260+ and the 285. It has 240 stream processors and a 448-bit memory bus width; its core is clocked at 633MHz; its memory clocked at 2268 MHz DDR and its shaders at 1404MHz. It contains a GT200 core, like all currently released modern-day cards.
The 275 and the 4890 are very similar in performance but the 275 is a bit more expensive than the 4890 currently.
Leaked information says that NVIDIA is releasing a new core: the GT300. I’m not completely confident about the current specifics, but it’s probably similar to what it will be.
The GT300’s structure will be completely different unlike the GT200’s, whose architecture was similar to the GT100 but just updated and a bit better. It also moves from the SIMD to the MIMDstructure.
SIMD stands for Single Instruction Multiple Data and is currently used by both ATI and NVIDIA companies. MMID stands for Multiple Instruction Multiple Data (as you may have probably guessed) and is completely different to the GT200, making it quite revolutionary. The major difference is that it makes your GPU being able to perform tasks which previously had to be performed by your CPU, making it more versatile.
No one really knows the core frequency yet, and probably won’t until NVIDIA actually releases news on the GT300, but tech experts believe that it should nearly double performance (which is pretty spectacular). It’ll probably have up to 512 shader cores in groups of 32 and be built on a 40nm process. It’s also said that it’s going to supporty DirectX 11. I’m really excited about this new core!
AMD has just released the RV740, which only comes with their latest card: the Radeon 4770. It is to counter the 9800 GT. It has 60 shader cores running at 850MHz, 512MB of GDDR5 RAM at 3200MHz but has a skinny memory bus of 128-bit, but the 4770 is still a monster. It has a 6-pin power connector and its core is a 40nm process.
Other than its new core size, the 4770 is most easily compared to the Radeon 4830. They both have the same number of stream processors but the 4770 runs it at a higher frequency. However, the 4770’s slim 128-bit memory bus can be countered by its super fast GDDR5 RAM. The 4770 is only a bit more expensive than the 9800 GT, maybe $15 more.
The 4770 still performs very well, and it beats the 4830 in tests for frame rates and is only about slower than the 4850. It also outperforms the 9800 GT just slightly.
How to Use Btaccel(Cloud Bitorrent Client) and Optimize Firefox to Get Over 1GB Speeds For Your Torrent Downloads!
*8/7/09- Initial release (more to come)
*8/14/09-stressed the fact that this great online bittorent client should only be used for legal downloads
Before this tutorial gets any deeper, I want to personally thank Hail for taking the time to write this tutorial, because I would have done it myself but I am so in love with Tunngle that I don’t have the time to work on this article. Btaccel is for legal downloads only. Freeware and shareware downloads are welcome. DO NOT USE this great sevice as a pirate of torrents. Since we don’t want this great online bitorrent client disappear cause of the few that abuse it. Thank you and respect our wishes. ~ Versatile
The Underground’s rating of this great btaccel online client is definetly a 10 out of 10
In this tutorial I will teach you how to use this great online bitorrent client called btaccel and how you can get your torrent download speeds up over 1gbs. Read ahead to learn how to never wait long again for the torrent you want…..
What is btaccel you say…
Btaccel is an online bitorrent client that downloads whatever torrent you want into their cloud servers much like a gmail account, which means that you can get a direct download once the torrent has been available. Getting a torrent this way is alot faster because you no longer have to worry about getting seeds for a connection, it just tells you when the download is available to you. Better yet btaccel will email you once your torrent is available for a direct download.
How do I sign up for btaccel?…
To use Btaccel all you need to do is register for an account(which is free) and login much like you would a normal email account. Go to http://www.btaccel.com and register for an account. Now you may have to wait for a couple days to get an confirmation email so just be patient. Then after using the confirmation email you’ll be able to login. Cloud computing has been an idea by computer enthusiasts for years now, and with the recent news of a Google OS in late 2010 the future is right around the corner. In fact, when we look back 10 years from now, the debut of Google’s Chrome OS may well mark the moment when cloud computing finally became real.
Some newer games, such as PES 2009 and GTA 4 require a lot of system resources and a higher-end PC to run. Even when your PC meets those requirements, sometimes the games run slowly and the graphics shows glitches because of some other resource hungry processes interfering with your game. The post will introduce a solution to this problem.
Every program you run, and some that automatically run in the background, create processes that may consume memory that interferes with your gameplay. To terminate those processes open Windows Task Manager by pressing CTRL-ALT-DELTE.
After the Task Manager shows up, click on the “Processes” Tab. If you have not previously cleaned some unused startup items using STARTER or another startup manager, you might find there are a whole lot of resource hogging processes. Now sort the processes according to “User Name” by clicking on the header of the “User Name” column.
All of the processes belonging to your user name except “explorer.exe” can be ended by highlighting the process and clicking “End Process” at the bottom-right corner of the Task Manager. Click yes to confirm.
Now, run your game. Afterwards, pause the game and use ALT-TAB to return to the desktop. Open Task Manager again using CTRL-ALT-DELTE. Go to the “Process” tab again, and find your game process. The name should be same to the game executable. For example, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 would be “pes6.exe”.
Right click on that entry, then “Set Priority” and click “Real Time”. That should make the game run as fast as possible that your PC can allow. Enjoy playing your games faster!
Note: If you terminate the wrong process(es), just do a force reboot, and the processes will rerun themselves.
There are several ways to make Firefox run faster. It’s all done by tweaking. I’ll be giving you a list of different tweaks, which will all count for something. Please note that I’ve done all of this on Windows XP Professional OS, and it may have different effects on other OSs.
This is the most popular way to make Firefox’s pages load faster, and no doubt you’ll come across this when you Google how to make Firefox faster.
- In the Firefox browser, type about:config.
- You’ll get something asking you to be careful. Click the thing which is I’ll be careful, I promise!
- You’ll find a filter bar. Type network.http.pipelining under the preference name column.
- You’ll normally find the default value of this to be false. Double click it and change it to True.
Effect: For most (at least the ones I’ve all seen) websites, you’ll notice a http:// before the address. This is for something called the HTTP 1.1 , a protocol, this is so that you can send numerous requests before your computer actually receives them. It’s also known as pipelining. Pipelining can reduce page loading times over connections, but not all servers support it, which is why it will have no effect for some websites. For this to work, you need pipelining to be enabled.
2. In the filter bar, type network.http.proxy.pipelining and its value to True.
Effect: Pipelining does not work when you are using a proxy. This is why you need to change this value to True, so that it is enabled if you are using a proxy.
3. Now type in network.http.pipelining.maxrequests. Right click and go to Modify. The default value is 4, change it to 8.
Effect: This determines the maximum requests your computer can send out at once. 8 is the maximum, so don’t change it to 100000 thinking you can send that much requests out.
4. Go to the normal about:config page, right click in the blank space and choose New/Boolean. Name this network.http.pipelining.firstrequest and accept. Then set its value to true.
Effect: This tweak isn’t normally recommended, but it hasn’t screwed my FF up in any way. It’s meant to aid in making your page load faster.
5. Now this time, right click and choose New/Integer . Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay then accept. Then set its value to 0.
Effect: The initialpaint.delay is the length of time (in milliseconds) after the server response before the browser begins to paint, or create, the page.
6. Make another Boolean and call it content.notify.ontimer and set its value to true.
Effect: Normally, a page would load when each part of it has fully been downloaded. Instead with this, it will make FF display whatever has been downloaded and thus, reducing page load time.
7. Again, create a Boolean value and call it content.interrupt.parsing and set the value to False.
Effect: This determines whether an application will “interrupt” a page being parsed so that it can react to the UI. Setting to false is so that the parsing cannot be interrupted, and the app will be unresponsive until all parsing has been completed.
There is another tweak for Windows XP and Vista users (except Windows XP Home Edition). This can be used for Internet Explorer and Firefox, or any other web browsing program. You’ll find this commonly over the internet.
- Go to Start
- Go to Run
- Type in gpedit.msc
- Expand the Local Computer Policy branch.
- Expand the Administrative Templates branch.
- Expand the Network branch.
- Open up the QoS Packet Scheduler.
- Double click the limit reservable bandwidth setting.
- Check the enabled item.
10. Change the limit to 0.
11. Close and restart your computer.
This has your computer connect to your Internet faster as it has no limits to how fast you can connect to it.
Any questions, suggestions or comments, please leave one!
