Hey guys,

During my PS3 modding journey, I had to attach the E3 flasher clip to my NOR clip. The first time I installed the clip, I heard a “click” so I assumed all was good, right?

Well, it turns out that after I connected my TF cover board and when I try to read a dump from the NOR chip, I got the LEDs flashing the error code “10001100” which means the NOR clip doesn’t have a good seat to the chip itself.

So I took apart the PS3, put more pressure onto the clip, reassemble the PS3, and I still got the issues? What the hell! After 6+ hours  of troubleshooting, and taking many breaks, I figured out how to fix it!

Before Xmas holidays, I got a chance to record a lot of video footage as I took apart my PS3 and attempted to install the E3 flasher for my fat PS3 that uses the NOR chip.

Today I am proud to release the first portion of that video tutorial, where I will show you how to take apart the fat PS3, and go into detail on how to secure the E3 clip to the PS3 mobo (the hardest part of the mod).

One reason I like how I did this video is I go over in detail the steps to take apart the PS3 in such a way that it doesn’t take too much of the viewer’s time. Other PS3 videos on other youtube channels the guys either fast forward through the disassemble process without any narration, or if they do decide to talk, its a LONG video!!!

Hey guys, I’ll keep it short. Last November/December I got my hands on an E3 NOR Flasher to be used with my fat PS3, model number CECHL. I’ve been eyeing this mod for a long time because I really wanted to downgrade my PS3 from 4.66 OFW to a CFW so I can run homebrew programs.

After watching 20+ youtube videos and learning how each tutorial maker did their own thing, I decided it was my turn to give the mod a try. It wasn’t easy at first, and I went slow and steady making sure I knew how everything worked. After a full week of off and on troubleshooting, experimenting, and testing, I got my PS3 finally downgraded and now I am more knowledgeable than I was before on this whole modding scene. So recently I just bought a used PS3 off of Amazon which is a 80GB fat PS3 model. Just my luck, this PS3 is the 4.55 firmware, which means that if I ever want to downgrade it to 3.55 so I can install CFW, I will need to get a hold of the E3 flasher (or find someone with E3 flasher and do it for me).

My brother used to have one of the first generation fat PS3 launch consoles that could play PS2 games, but he recently sold that off (doh!). But he was smart, he knew in the beginning not to update the firmware to the latest official version, and he was enjoying the 3.55 CFW for the longest time until work got into his way and he had just little time for gaming.

Now here I am embarking on my own PS3 adventure, and the concept of PS3 modding is interesting, but not sure if I am ready to take the plunge.

Maybe you have a PS3 and you want to take the plunge and get it modded. Did you update it to the latest firmware? If you have a compatible model, you can purchase a device called an E3 Flasher. Essentially what it does is it reflashes the NOR chip on the PS3 so you can properly downgrade it.

Depending on where you buy this online, it can range from $75 up to $125. The process seems easy, but there is a lot to do to make sure it works right. All fat PS3 are compatible, and only certain models of slim PS3 is compatible with the E3 Flasher.
