How to Jailbreak the iPod Touch 2G [2.2.1]
Hey guys.
So if you own an iPod Touch 2G (i’ll be lazy and might write touch), never fear, the jailbreak is finally here!
Ok, that’s not strictly true. The jailbreak has been around for awhile, but it was the tethered version, which required you to connect your touch to the computer every time you wanted to reboot.
A few days ago, someone was finally able to crack the final layer and make it such that you don’t need to tether the touch anymore. A few hours later, a program called QuickFreedom was built as a GUI to allow jailbreak.
All you will need is:
-iPod Touch 2.2.1 firmware, which you can download online, through iTunes, or through QuickFreedom itself.
-LIBUSB (which you can install through QuickFreedom)
-an iPod Touch 2G (obviously.)
QuickFreedom works in a 5 step process, it’s actually not too hard to do.
Step 1:
You can download and install all the software you need from QuickFreedom, just make sure to refresh or restart the program when you do that so you can go onward, otherwise you will be stuck here.
Step 2:
Select your options and create a custom firmware. You can save it wherever you want, and you can add a custom bootscreen as well. When I did this, I didn’t use a custom bootscreen, but it should work fine.
Step 3:
This is the pre jailbreak. This was the hardest step for me, I don’t really know why. The whole trick is to get the touch into DFU mode. You can follow the DFU instructions, but it seemed almost impossible to use that, so I just ended up doing the DFU in various ways until I got it. I left iTunes open for the entire process, so you can use it as a check to see if you are doing it properly. It is my guess that QuickFreedom does not detect the DFU perfectly everytime since it told me that I was in DFU but would not let me proceed. Keep at it, you’ll eventually get there.
Here what I finally did at the end. It doesn’t matter if the iPod is on or off.
To do the DFU, hold the Power and Home buttons down for 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds, release the Power button and continue holding the Home button for 8 to 10 more seconds. At some point, iTunes should find an iPod in recovery mode unless you disconnected the iPod. I orginally tried doing this by turning off first, but in the end, I’m not too sure if that really mattered because my touch was in some limbo state between going on and off.
After you DFU, start the pre-jailbreak. WAIT. This is a mistake I almost made and got really lucky on. The log is there to help you, so read it! Do not go onward until you read that the patch was installed correctly. I almost started the next step before the patch was completely installed, this might screw things up, so just be careful.
Step 4:
Using iTunes, install the new software firmware that you built. Hold SHIFT and click Restore in iTunes, and find the custom firmware you built. Let the software install. It might take some time.
Step 5:
You are done! The touch should be jailbroken with Cydia and Installer. Have fun!
Some interesting notes:
I was not able to install more than 9 full pages of apps. I think that’s the limit. At 16 apps per page, thats 144 + 4 (from the dock) to total at 148. I haven’t tested this out, but you can probably use categories from Cydia to put all the apps in folders and get around this. Apps will still be there, but they are hidden away and will only appear if there is some more space (aka deleting old apps).

Touchpad for iPhone!
Touchpad for your iPhone or iPod Touch acts as a wireless touch pad for your pc! You can control the mouse on your pc through the iPhone: move the mouse around, click, double-click, and even drag (double click but keep it pressed and then move it around). Vertical scrolling is even possible, by clicking and dragging on the right edge of the iPhone screen.
You can use it to control videos, show pictures, advance slides in a presentations — whatever a regular touchpad can do.
Installation instructions:
- You need a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch with Installer.app on it. Here are some great instructions on how to do this.
- Start Installer.app, and go to Sources. Click “Edit”, and then Add this repository: http://cnp.qlnk.net/
- After the refresh, install Touchpad from the Utilities category.
- Install VNC on the machine you want to control. I recommend TightVNC for Windows and Linux. Mac users should follow these detailed instructions (thanks, Archetype!).

Now I know most of you will think that this is just another way for me to get referrals for my own Freebie accounts but I am really not. Overview:
Prizerebel.com is probably one of the more knoticed freebie sites on The Underground Blog. Thanks to Voltaire, the majority of the Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer seekers have something to look at while they read the long, and popular, post he has here, or even on every page in the blog news section to the right —–>.
How do you make money?:
This site if offer based. It has a small referral set up but for the most part, you are on your own. You do offers from a long list, each with its own point value assigned to it for its compleation. Once you have collected enough points, you are able to choose from their prize guide or custom order an item if it is not on the prize guide.
How do I cash out?:
Cashing out is done through their “Availabe Prizes” section. They have a long list of available prizes to choose from. You can also custom order items through a support ticket system. All custom and regular prizes are fulfilled from amazon.com. That means that you can custom order anything on amazon.com but if amazon.com doesn’t have it, they probably can’t help you on that perticular item. I have personally used this site and cashed out on it with no problems. I received the prize within about a week of ordering it.
Overall Rating of Site:
This is a hard site to rate. Although it is very easy to get points, a lot of the offers mess up and don’t give credit because of cookie problems. The referral program only gives 20% of the referrals points to your account but it is an understandable amount none-the-less. I will give this site an 8/10. I can think of easier sites to get free stuff on but this one stands out with its vast selection of no-credit card-required offers. It may take longer to get the item but it can be worth the time and effort in the end!
Helpful Tips to this site:
When using this site you will have to do some work with the cookies on your computer to make sure that you will get credit for the offers on the site. For a good checklist of things to do, go to the Prize Rebel FAQ then look in the “How can I increase my chance of getting credited?” section.

How do I cash out?:
No cashing out is done on Anything4Free.com but once you receive enough referrals on another site, using this site, your friends, and other method of gathering referrals, you can cash out on there.
Overall Rating of Site:
I give this site a…. 9/10. It is PURE GOLD when it comes to its Guides, FAQ’s and other tools BUT the Referral Trading can get very costly if you are doing Referral 4 Cash Trades (the majority of people). There are probably much cheaper ways of getting referrals but they would be much slower than this site. So overall, this site is an Excellent source of help for other freebie sites but the costs can get a little high in the Referral Trading.
Helpful Tips to this site:
Stick to the Referral 4 Referral Trades if you can. Always try to trade with a member who has a high “TR”. “TR” is the feedback system they have at Anything4free.com and the higher the “TR” the better the trader.

I had to look up “nanowire” in Wikipedia to understand what it is exactly: “A nanowire is a wire of diameter of the order of a nanometer (10−9 meters). DVD TO iPod/Zune/PSP/etc. FREE w/ Handbrake -Method 1
Hey everyone, Musicmasteria again. Just like I promised in the last post of mine… here is METHOD 1 of how to put a DVD onto your iPod, Zune, PSP, etc. for free! The only program you will need for Method 1 is Handbrake! This is unlike method 2 which uses dvd decrypter as well. This method is a lot shorter and easier so you will love it! If you would like to have a .doc/.pdf (to be desided) version of both Method 1 and 2 together, I will update this later with a link to download it. In the mean time…

Method 1 – Handbrake alone (Non-Copy Protected Movies, Most DVDs)
Download Handbrake free from here: http://handbrake.m0k.org/?article=download
1. Install handbrake, really simple, no registration
2. Run handbrake (with DVD in disk drive)
You will get a screen like this:
3. Click the “Browse” button in the “Source” area. Find the CD’s “Video_TS” folder, then click ok.
4. (optional)– If you have multiple movies on the disk you have to choose the one you want in the “Title” bar. Handbrake with automatically choose the longest one if you choose “Automatic”.-If you only want a certain range of chapter of the title, choose them in the “Chapters” bar.
5. Click the “Browse” button in the “Destination” area. Choose a name for the output file and where to put it, then press “Save”. (Even though you can choose the file extension, it will record in .m4v format because it is preset to do that. To change that, follow step 6)
6. (optional)– Click “Show Presets”– It will be on “Normal” but you can change it to what ever you want the output file to be. This is how you can change what the file format will be (.mp4, .m4v, etc.)
7. (optional) – If you want to encode more than one video in a row (Queue)– So once you have everything set click “Add to Queue”– Repeat steps 3-6 for each new video and click “Add to Queue” after each one
8. FINALLY, Click “Encode Video” and sit back and relax while Handbrake does the rest.
* Length of encoding is varied upon the length of each video
* DO NOT do anything else on your computer while it encodes
So now that you have the file on your computer, use what ever program you want to transfer it you your iPod/Zune/PSP/etc.
And now… YOU’RE DONE!
ENJOY YOUR FREE DVD TO iPod/Zune/PSP/etc. Program!!!
Note: If handbrake can not correctly encode the video and/or gives a file that doesn’t work, it probably means that the DVD has some kind of copy protection. This is easily bypassed with DVD Decrypter. The tutorial on how to use handbrake with dvd decrypter is already up and it is called “Method 2”. (A link can be found at the top of the post)

Hey everyone! It’s musicmasteria again and this is my first written tutorial here on The Underground! This post happens to be the second part of it and the first part will be coming soon after.
This is METHOD 2 and it is for when Method 1 for some reason doesn’t work for you. It is longer than method 1 but that is because it is a bit more detailed. Almost every step has a picture that goes along with it! (Better quality pictures available)

Method 2 – Handbrake w/ DVD Decrypter (Copy Protected Movies)
Download Handbrake free from here: http://handbrake.m0k.org/?article=download, then install.
Download DVD Decrypter free from here: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe, then install.
1. Run DVD Decrypter (with DVD in disk drive)
You will get a screen like this:
2. Click “Mode” then “ISO”
You will see a screen like this but it will have different times and stuff:
3. Choose a file. You might see 2 files that are the same length. (On mine I have 3 pairs because I have 3 different clips I recorded on the disk) If so, choose the first occurrence.
4. Click the folder icon in the destination area and choose where you want to put the file.
5. Then press the go arrow to start decrypting.
Then…
6. Once it is finish you will see a message and hear a jingle.
(Optional) If you have multiple videos to get, repeat steps 4-6 for the other files.
7. After I did this I got 3 files for each video (I just did one of the clips I had recorded on my disk for this tutorial so I just have 3 files)
They were these:
8. Now open up Handbrake
9. Next to the first “Browse” button there are 2 choices. “Folder” and “File”
Select “File” (This is the opposite of the first method which uses “Folder”)
10. Click “Browse” in the “Source” area and find the file that ends in “.VOB” in the place where you made DVD Decrypter put the Decrypted files.
11. Select a destination file by clicking the second “Browse”. (Even though you can choose the file extension, it will record in .m4v format because it is preset to do that. To change that, follow step 12)
12. (optional)
– Click “Show Presets”
– It will be on “Normal” but you can change it to what ever you want the output file to be. This is how you can change what the file format will be (.mp4, .m4v, etc.)
