How To Play LAN With Planetary Annihilation

Revisions:
10-21-14: Initial release

So I’m a big fan of total annihilation and supreme commander, so it was up my alley when I heard Planetary Annihilation was going to have LAN.

In the latest update, it does have LAN! Yes!

So how do you do LAN? It’s pretty simple:

1) Start the game.

2) Under the game settings, turn on the local server. This only applies for x64 bit machines.

3) Go to multiplayer, host a game or join someone elses game. When you host, make sure the visibility is set to public to other gamers can find you.

Note: If two players have the same username, when you join a game, it will disconnect the host from the client, and the client becomes the new host.

In order to fix this, you want to change your username. If you have issues with this, see my quick mini tutorial below:

1) Download a mp fix here.

2) Extract it into your x64 folder in your main Planetary Annihilation folder.

3) Start the game. Click Single player, and type in a username and password. Don’t worry if it says login fail, its not crtical.

4) Now go to multiplayer, and your new name has taken effect. Tell all your other gamers to do the same to get a unique name, and now you can have fun!

MW3 Dedicated Server Tools – Play Online for Free

Revisions:
1-22-14: Initial Release.

For the past year or so, I’ve known a pretty dark secret about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for the the PC platform.

Using the ~14GB Call of Duty MW3 dedicated server tools, in addition to install respective game update patches and using the TeknoMW3 program, you can play online multiplayer for free, without buying the game.

In fact, if you use an older copy of TeknoMW3 (v2.7.0.1) with an older patch of the game, you can play single player campaign, as well as spec-ops LAN!

Why does the dedicated server tool have both the single player and all multiplery maps (minus DLC)? I have no idea. What I do know is that this same method worked with the FourlDeltaOne (who no longer exists).

So what’s left? Using TeknoMW3, you can continue to play online and have your good times.

Puush.Me – Free and Simple Way for Screen Capture and Online Storage Sharing

Revisions:

7-17-11: Initial Release.

Puush.me is a website that I knew about for quite awhile thanks to the recommendation of one my Youtube followers, but I never got a chance to try it out until recently as I was thinking of new tutorials to look at. Puush.me is basically a program you download and install, and with it, it allows you to do quick and easy screen captures of a program, desktop, or a selected area of your choosing.

In addition, you can also use it to upload files like .txt, .doc, .exe, and more to your puush.me online account. For free users, the max limit of free online storage for you is 200mb, but if you are using it host pictures here and there temporarily, then perhaps this is right up your alley.

Plus, the entire service is ad-free! Once you login to the puush.me account, you can see your online files, and put them in public mode or even private mode. Every time you do a screen capture, it will automatically upload the file online, and it will instantly copy the url link into your clipboard. From there, you can give it to your friends, put it on the blog, or wherever that you desire.

Below are some screenshots of the dialog boxes in question:

puush.me general settings

In the above box, there are settings on how you want the program to run, and how a successful puush can be done.

puush.me key binding settings

Here you can select your keyboard bindings and how you want to do it.

It is a pretty simple service. To learn more, see the video tutorial below:

How To Play Duke Nukem Forever Online (Steam/Smart Steam Method) [Tunngle Optional]

Revisions:

6-11-11: Initial release.

Hey guys, today I got my copy of Duke Nukem Forever, and surprisingly, the first thing I did was went straight to MP, instead of SP.  You have to do a fair amount of work to get the multiplayer to work online, but its painless.

For sake of time, please watch the video tutorial below:

If you are looking for a text tutorial, here is the quick and dirty version:

1) Install game.

2) Install Steam.

3) Get the Duke Nukem Forever multiplayer fix files. If you need the skidrow file (which is better than Razor1911 files), then you can find them all at the media fire link below:

Copy over the patch files.

http://www.mediafire.com/?5b71tngs60wae

4) Get in tunngle (if you desire) only if you want to let other people know you are hosting a game easier. Then use game browser to find a game, or use custom match to create your own!

[How To] Play Splinter Cell Conviction LAN Online Using Tunngle

Revisions:

5-12-10: Initial release.

I will keep this guide brief and short. You are here because you want to play Splinter Cell Conviction LAN online with your friends. This tutorial will cover the LAN method only. I will not cover the friend invite method.

Downloads:

Latest patch is 1.02:

Patch 1.02:  Rapidshare

(Run the official 1.02 patch. Then copy all the skidrow items to the src/system folder. Make sure to type in a username in the “Skidrow.ini” and save it.)

Tutorial Process:

1) Go to tunngle.net. Download and install tunngle. Register for an account.

2) Login to tunngle. Type ‘conviction’ in the search box and enter the splinter cell conviction room of your choosing.

3) Start the game.

4) Go to LAN and click on create game if you want to be host. If you are a client, click on a game in the server list and if everything works right you will be playing!

Troubleshooting Area

If you have issues hosting or connecting, please try the steps below:

1) Ensure that tunngle is number 1 in the network stack.

2)  Make sure to port forward udp 11155 in the router. Although not required, it may help.

3) If you are using an antivirus software like NOD32 that has networking capabilities, disable it and try again.

4) I have seen cases where people have allowed Tunngle and Splinter Cell Conviction in the Windows Firewall and the game still does not broadcast. Disabling the firewall may help.

5) The worst case scenario is to turn on DMZ in the router for your specific IP address.

If you have any other tips, leave a comment.

[How To] Play Age of Mythology LAN Online Using Tunngle (Forget Hamachi/Garena)

Revisions:

1-25-10: Initial release.

I was testing this game recently and discovered that by default when hosting a LAN game online using Tunngle, it likes to use your default IP address assigned by your router. An example would be 192.168.0.1.  This is irritating because you want the game to recognize your Tunngle IP address.  What to do?
