[How To] Play Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne LAN Online Free Using Tunngle (Forget Hamachi & Garena)
Revisions:
1-11-10: Initial release.
1-12-10: Added my youtube video.
Foreword: There is nothing illegal about playing Warcraft 3 LAN online bypassing the Battle.net servers. I have a legit game, and I play on Tunngle with friends time to time. If you are a Hamachi user, I suggest you switch to Tunngle. There are more people and its easier to host!
I love DOTA. I love it so much that I play it when I am sick of playing other games. With that said, someone had requested a Tunngle tutorial on how to play this game online, so here is the tutorial. If you want to play DOTA online with me and the others, add my Tunngle username: Versatile.
Tutorial:
1) First of all, make sure you have the latest game update. You can get the latest Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne update here.
2) Download and install Tunngle. Make an account. Sign in. If you are having trouble signing into Tunngle, then you need to port forward UDP 11155 for your computer. Don’t know how to port forward? See my video below:
3) Go to the Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne network. Or the Dota Network. To get there, you need to login to Tunngle. Then do Community -> Networks -> Browser -> Strategy -> Forward (Press 4 times) -> Double click on the Warcraft 3 network.
[How To] Play Call of Duty – World at War 5 Co-Op Online Using Hamachi (Tunngle Preferred)
Foreword: I’ve decided to put this tutorial back up, which was originally created by author Chyea for Call of Duty World at War. Please note that the preferred method is Tunngle. You need to update your game to the latest version. Please see my exclusive Tunngle video below.
Of course, this article is no way in shape or form created to promote piracy. There are legitimate players with legitimate users who want to play this game via LAN with their friends. This is an educational piece, and shall be treated as one. ~ Versatile

11-17-09: Re-release of an old article per indiscreet demand. MW2 is a better game. Does anyone care about this one? 🙂

[Proof of Concept] Your Favorite FPS War Game Online Via Unconventional Methods
Revisions:
11-15-09: Initial Release
11-16-09: Youtube video shows dedicated server concept. Video added. Oh yea, new words about this space in your nickname fix.
11-17-09: Added someone else’s youtube that shows how to play MP online.
Important Foreword: This post was started by fellow Underground Author Chyea, who in all the best intentions loves the game in question that I am pretty sure any active gamer knows that I am talking about. I have stepped into finish it up since he is busy with real life responsibilities. With that said, no full fledged tutorial will be written up unless I have something concrete to talk about. I have seen the activity, and there is a lot of stuff that is going to happen the next few days. Trust me. It’s called the community versus IW. 🙂
Hence, this is just a proof of concept article only to get your taste buds moistened. An educational document if you will about a real story of real life game hackers who want to prove to the “man” that yes, the game will be modded to hell to bring back dedicated PC support as commanded by gamers across the world. I mean no ill will to Chyea, we just got to handle this smartly. Suspension, remember? >_>
Over the course of time when I am comfortable, I will change the title of the article and everything else as necessary to reflect current times. ~ Versatile
As we all know, Modern Warfare 2 has no dedicated LAN support, and if you search google or any news site you will see tons of articles on Modern Warfare 2 and the story about how it got cracked. I think it is pretty safe to start linking to these stories, don’t you?
News Articles on MW2 and Cracking and hacking:
http://www.gossipgamers.com/modern-warfare-2-servers-cracked-within-days-after-release/
http://www.destructoid.com/big-surprise-modern-warfare-2-already-hacked-154854.phtml
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/11/11/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2-already-hacked/
So with that said, it is no surprise MW2 was subjected to a lot of piracy for those in the know. These same type of people have been looking for ways to take their copies online for dedicated server play and what not. What we have today (at least) is a work in progress that gives you 90 seconds of online Steam playing flavor before you get disconnected. The creator (and the competition) says they are working on ways to fix this, but they want to get their digital signature into it to prove they are the creator.
All I am for seeing is a long battle of hacker versus IW doing a cat and mouse play. Might as well give up and wait for Battlefield Bad Company 2 perhaps? 🙂
How to play this work in progress Steam fix for non-legitimate players:
1) Download the file, extract to the ROOT directory of your Modern Warfare 2, have steam running, and play!!! Note: 90 seconds of play is available right now until this fix gets updated. If it does, we will let you know.
No, we will not reveal the sources, as the more visible this gets, the more likely it won’t last that long.
2) Hamachi or Tunngle is NOT necessary.

VIDEO TUTORIAL (not Versatile, someone else’s)
Short tutorial:
New Notes: Add a space to your Steam Nickname. If you use the questionable file and play online with no space in your name, you get kicked after 90 seconds. Now add a space and you can play for a long time! Example: “PortalCake” turns into “Portal Cake”. Enjoy.
Note: Recommendation for using a fake steam account is very high.

[How To] Play Street Fighter IV (4) Online Using Tunngle (or Hamachi) – Live Not Required
Revisions:
9-26-09: Initial release
1-1-10: Added more hints. Removed youtube video until I upload the new one.
4-8-11: Added dropbox link. Added video tutorial!
11-25-12: Rewrote the whole guide, added new video link. All discussion about Chinese program is removed
When I initially wrote this blog post, I had a tutorial referencing a Chinese program that allowed you to play 1vs1. The problem with that program was that it was not stable, and it wouldn’t work right all the time.
Since 2009, I have found a GFWL keygen file that allows you to take various GFWL games and play them online. Rather than go through all the steps, everything that you need to know is at the Pastebin link below, and I have also pasted my youtube video as well. Enjoy!

Skype – A Great VOIP Application
Skype is one of the first programs on the Internet that takes advantage of VOIP technology. What is VOIP? In short, it is the transmission of voice from PC to PC (or even PC to phone and vice versa) using the Internet.
Did you know that the creators of Skype were also the same guys who had started the P2P network from Kazaa? In fact, the Kazaa network gave them the knowledge they needed to build upon it and use Skype as the next platform using the same P2P concept.
Skype is zero configuration. All you need to do is create a Skype account, add your friends, and just hit the call button! In fact, you can get into conference call with your Skype buddies up to 8 (or is it 16) or so members and have a conversation. The voice clarity is surprisingly clear, and its better than any teamspeak or ventrillo chat.
Once you Skype, there is no turning back. One of the great uses of Skype is to not only call friends, but also getting in touch with those who live far away. For example, I can call my friend in Skype who lives in Australia, and don’t have to worry about paying long distance fees! PC to PC communication is free, and now you can get it for various smart phones to have the Skype program installed.
If you want to talk underground, you can even reach me. My Skype username is versatileninja. Sometimes it is just easier to talk about the concept rather than type everything out by hand.
Before you get Skype, I highly recommend you use a headset! Sure, you can get one of those Skype USB phones, or a desktop mic, but it is not as convenient as a regular headset or even a bluetooth headset! Last night there were three of us online (Hail2King, Voltaire, and myself), and unfortunately Hail had lent his headset to his brother. Voltaire and I were on Skype, and we tried to go around using Gizmo to add Hail into the conference call so we could hear him speak, but in short it was not worth the effort, nor did it work as planned.
It is funny that as simple as having a headset avaialble would enable all three of us to talk at the same time without having to go through hoops, but sometimes if you have lemons, life doesn’t want to give you lemonades.
Do you have Skype? Maybe another different VOIP application? Let us know what you think about it!

Gears of War for Xbox 360 was huge. It was a game changer in terms of making taking cover behind boxes fun again. With the success of the Xbox 360, it was a no-brainer decision to create it for PC.

[Tutorial] Left 4 Dead – Playing Online With Legit Methods (Garena)
Foreword: I have named this tutorial very strangely. The “Indirect Tutorial”? What is that supposed to mean? *smiles* Please recognize that the nature of this article is to simply open your eyes about this game, and what it can do for you, or what you can do for it.
I used to have a lot of great L4D tutorials here on WordPress.com, but I had to remove them to play by the rules. However, I am back to help fill that void of information you are seeking. Good luck, and let the Internet be kind to you. ~ Versatile

In November of 2008, Valve came out with another hit title since the Half Life 2 era. It is called “Left 4 Dead”, and because of it, now you see games like Dead Rising or Killing Floor. After playing the game hardcore for months, I have to say that it is a great game, and when Left 4 Dead 2 comes out in November of 2009, it will raise the bar another notch. Let’s spend out time with Left 4 Dead while we still have time to revel in the glory of it.
What is Left 4 Dead?
Per Wikipedia:
Left 4 Dead is a cooperative first-person shooter video game. It was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which was purchased by Valve Corporation during development. The game uses Valve’s proprietary Source engine, and is available for Windows and the Xbox 360. Development on the game was completed on November 13, 2008 and was released on November 18, 2008 in the United States and on November 21, 2008 in Europe.
Main features include:
- Melee attacks.
- Molotovs.
- 4 player co-op.
- An assortment of guns.
- Available SDK map making kit.
- In game voice communication.
- Custom maps to download from the community. Popular site is www.l4dmaps.com
and more! See the full details at www.l4d.com.
Is there a Single Player?
Yes in a way. There are 4 campaigns, and each campaign has 5 chapters in it. Your goal is to go from point A to point B (the safehouse). At the final act of each campaign, you got to hold out until rescue comes to save you.
How about Online Multiplayer?
Yes, there is online multiplayer. You can host your own online games and have up to four people playing with you on co-op or survival mode, and up to 8 people on versus using Steam. If you have a custom map that your friend doesn’t, you will need to tell your friend to download the map offline first and then he can play with you. This right now is the only downfall of L4D, and maybe in the future they will have automap download feature?
Can Left 4 Dead be played without Steam? *wink*
Yes. It is called playing the game on a LAN network.
No, you misunderstood me. Can Left 4 Dead be played online without Steam? *double wink*
Oh, you mean can it be played online without having Steam? Yes, it can. However, you do realize that this is circumventing the Steam system. I have heard the argument from players who own the game that Steam players are bothersome, and they would like to try a different way of playing their game online. Perhaps with more mature audience. I have no argument against these cases. In fact, I want people to be aware of all opportunities to play their game online besides Steam.
Currently there are two popular ways to play your game online:
- Garena (most popular)
- Hamachi (second most popular)
Garena is starting to become the most popular online portal to help you play your games online.
Hamachi is another good way to play online. It is a virtual VPN solution that essentially emulates the LAN over the Internet so you can play with your friends by playing in what is called Hamachi networks.
How can I play Left 4 Dead Online with Garena or Hamachi? Do I need special patches?
Due to the nature of WordPress.com, I don’t think I am allowed to go into those type of details as that is frowned upon. However, I do recall in my past adventure that there are guides that explain how to play Left 4 Dead online with Garena or Hamachi. These guides come in the shape of text or video tutorials.
My recommendation is to learn how to use Garena. Hamachi is nice, but you have to mess with what is called VPN alias, and I have youtube videos on this subject if you want to learn more. The problem with Hamachi and Left 4 Dead is not the game, but finding people. Yes, there was an ogerlauncher program, but it is not updated for versions past 1.0.0.9 so it is broken. Finding people to play on hamachi is hard, and even if you do have people, they are always asking you to play at inconvenient times.
With Garena, people are playing day and night, and it is never ever hard to find a game going on, especially in the main USA room. How do I know so much about this? Because I lived through it and helped tons of people learn the method to play Left 4 Dead online legitimately. Just because you are not using Steam to play online doesn’t mean you are doing something wrong. So what if people want to play LAN games, or play LAN games over the Internet with their friends? Is that so bad? Some people think so, but I will leave the interpretations up to them.
If you can’t help us here, do you have a recommendation of where we can go then to learn?
Yes, I sure can. I want to reiterate that I do not support piracy, and some people may get clever and believe that Garena/Hamachi are tools to help people with their illicit needs. The tools themselves are legitimate, but what people plan to do with those tools can make their actions illegitimate. For example, bittorrent itself is not illegal, downloading/sharing copyrighted material is. The methods you encounter are to be held in the same regards. Please be smart, and don’t do something stupid. Thanks!

[Indirect Tutorial] Killing Floor – The New Left 4 Dead?
Foreword: I have named this tutorial very strangely. The “Indirect Tutorial”? What is that supposed to mean? *smiles* Please recognize that the nature of this article is to simply open your eyes about this game, and what it can do for you, or what you can do for it. I leave the rest of the mystery to you. ~ Versatile

It was bound to happen. With the success of Valve’s game of the year “Left 4 Dead”, it was bound that another zombie game would hit the market soon. Tripwire has the answer with their different game called “Killing Floor”.
What is Killing Floor?
Per Wikipedia:
Killing Floor is a mod for the Unreal Tournament 2004 video game, first released in 2005 as a demo, and full version, later that year. The mod acquired popularity after appearing in several game magazines. It is a survival horror first-person shooter based game, with Co-op multiplayer action. A retail version of the game was released via Steam on May 14, 2009.
To me, think of it as Counter Strike meets Left 4 Dead. Main features include:
- Killing zombies for cash.
- Fighting waves of zombies similar to Left 4 Dead.
- 6 player co-op.
- Each map has a “boss”.
- Available SDK map making kit.
- In game voice communication
and more! See the full details at http://www.killingfloorthegame.com/.
Is there a Single Player?
Yes, sort of. All you do is go as yourself and fight against waves of zombies until you reach the boss. You can earn perks this way too so you can unlock other achievements. Due note that there are no AI computer players to help you, so you are definitely on your own here.
How about Online Multiplayer?
Yes, there is online multiplayer. You can host your own online games and have up to six people playing with you on Steam. If you have a custom map that your friend doesn’t, your friend will automatically download the map from you. Left 4 Dead currently does not have this feature, so this is nice to have.
Can Killing Floor be played without Steam? *wink*
Yes, there is a LAN mode so you can play offline.
No, you misunderstood me. Can Killing Floor be played online without Steam? *double wink*

Get Warned When Your E-Mail is Hacked
Today, I was reading around and I found this great article about how to make sure your email has not been hacked. How would you ever know if someone did get into your mail? Personal information is being stored in those accounts and people are using their email space for personal data backups. How do you make sure you are safe?
Read it right here!
”
- 1. Sign up for a website hit counter at www.onestatfree.com. You can leave a fake name and whatever URL you want (I used Google.com for mine).
2. You will then receive a welcome email from OneStat with a text attachment called OneStatScript.txt. Download this attachment to your computer and then delete the email (you don’t want any email snoopers finding it later). But before deleting the email, write down your OneStat account number as you will need it later.
3. Change the name of the text document to something that will make the email snooper salivate such as passwordlist. Also change the file format from a text document to a website page. So make it something like passwordlist.htm .
4. Email this newly-renamed file as an attachment to the email account you want to monitor. Make sure the email subject title also lures the snooper in (maybe something like List of Passwords. You get the idea :).
5. The trap is now set. Basically if someone opens the email and opens the attachment, OneStat will record a hit. If you then log into your OneStat account say once a day, you will see how many hits you have had to your attachment.
The OneStat account page then gives you details on each “visitor” including the date and time they accessed the web document and more importantly their location and IP address!
So how does having this information help you? Well first of all, it will alert you to change your password to something stronger. Secondly, if you see the snooper’s location and you only know one or two people there then it narrows down your list of potential suspects.”
So, take a chance, and try it out!
[App] IMO.IM
Sick of Meebo with its heavy traffic and cluttered interface? Don’t want to see those annoying ads? Now there is an cleaner and faster alternative, which is “imo.im” The creators behind this IM service are simply ingenius. Even two of them are from Google. The main highlight of this online IM service is the fact that one can have a group session across all messenging platforms. Another cool feature is that one does not even have to create an account to log onto multiple IM platforms simultaneously, thanks to a feature called “linking accounts”.
Although it does not have all the features that common IM clients offer (such as logfiles, smilies, etc) this app has plenty of room for improvement and successes. Also, the clean interface and lack of other things like hyperlinks and smiley buttons prove to be very pleasing to the eye.
official site: http://imo.im
