[TiT] That’s It Tuesday – Issue 25

Hi underground visitors! Welcome to the twenty-fifth issue of TIT, or That’s It Tuesday! Every Tuesday, I, Versatile1, will give you a rant of whats going on in the blog, whats intended for the future, hope, dreams, etc.

Last week I dabbled into the war between Afterdawn user versus Underground Writer? Basically what happened was one of my PS2 tutorials was plagiarized (including pictures) with no credit given to the Underground. Yesterday MusicMasteria backed me up and wrote a post on what to do about content theft and how to combat it.

Although these are good ideas, I still want to take revenge on my enemy or enemies. What shall I do? After this writing, I’m going to change the hotlinked pictures to something NSFW. Oh I can’t wait!

Yesterday I was bought a Linksys WRT54G wireless router from Craigslist for $25, and I made it into a wireless bridge using linux firmware known as DD-WRT. It works great for hooking up my HTPC and Xbox online without having to buy separate adapters.

Spring is here, and I will be doing some cleaning here on the blog from time to time. We got a strong anti-spam filter in place, and those people marked as spam I’m putting you into the filter. Rapidshare posts or AWsurveys after 3/17/08 without the phrase “I am not a frickin’ bot” will be marked as spam instantly. Muauahah. 🙂

Other than that, last week Friday we had author TVDenimChap write up Rockin’ Friday, and it frickin’ rocks! Can’t wait for this week’s edition. See you guys next time, and be on the watchout for the Afterdawn comback.

[Update:  Turns out I can’t edit the hotlinked pictures.  Either I let them remain or I delete them.  I ended up deleting them, and I added a new post to afterdawn saying you just got pwnt for hotlinking.  The new tutorial now has watermark to it.]

What It Feels Like To Be Ripped Off – Internet Style

Above is a picture of a ghetto MP3 gadget called “VoSonic” is the correct name I think. I could be long. This was on NewEgg, but not any longer. After closer inspection, you can clearly tell it is a rip off of the Apple iPod 4G. Click wheel anyone?

Anyway, this post is not me ranting about the iPod clone, but about my own adventure. I thought I would never live this, but one of my tutorials on this blog was referenced in another forum, with no credit given to the writer, Versatile1.

This tutorial shows you how you take a PS2 game from a torrent, and burn it correctly to a blank DVD using Nero.

Now I’m a large supporter of Afterdawn.com, and yesterday browsing the PS2 DVD backup session, I find this thread:

User “Liltam” had the nerve to basically copy and paste my words and my pictures into his post, with no sign of even giving credit to The Underground. (He even had the balls to edit some words out to make it not obvious). I’m partly happy and angry at the same time.

So what’s an author to do?

Simple.

• Watermark my images.
• Rename the images so Liltam pictures are broken.
• Extreme option: Fix the current tutorial to point to new pictures, but upload some pictures that would ban Liltam from the Afterdawn forum since his post will be redirecting to my original file names. Hehe, oh man would that be fun and evil at the same time!

What if I redirected all of “Liltam’s” PS2 pictures to the one below? Oh man, what a riot!

If I get at least 3 commentors egging me on to do it, I’ll do it! So what are you ready for? Let Versatile1 have his payback. 🙂
