I’ve decided to kill Sucker Free Sundays now.  The thread is meeting its age, and seriously I doubt anyone cares who writes on what days anymore.  Oh well, it was a long ass run!

Today I wanted to mention a special link that does not get enough love.  Do you have a PS2, and you want to run games off a USB hard drive?  Well, time over time I get the same question asking why their game does not work.  They can copy to the hard drive, but the loading screen is black and it hangs there?

The reason it does this is because the game is probably not compatible with the USBExtreme or HDALoader program.  I don’t know why that is.  If you have a modded PS2, just go straight to burnt game.  If you have swap magic, go to straight copy.  Why bother with USB hard drive?  Sure, it may save your laser, but the USB 1.1 performance sucks for the FMV sequences, and its good for regular game play. Maybe having a load of games on the hard drive gives you a hard on…. I don’t know 😉

Go to this link below, and check if your game is compatible.  If not, then go a different route.

I’ve been pretty busy with work, so I haven’t had a chance to put up anything terribly exciting around here.

I did get a post up few days ago showing my Windows 7 beta setup in VMWARE.  Expect a public beta version of it in January 09.  Rumors are saying that Windows 7 may come out even earlier, say before holidays of 2009?

I have gotten a cracked copy of Red Alert 3.  If you are experiencing the black screen in the beginning, I suggest you either disconnect from the Internet, or you let it access the Internet.  All it will do is prompt you if you want to download the latest patch. At time of this writing, there is no true 1.03 crack but you can use the 1.00 crack if you desire.

I’ve beaten the Soviet campaign, and it took me a couple hours over the course of 2 days.  Going to do the Allies next and then the Japan campaign.  So far the graphics are tight, and I hear that a cracker is hard at work at making co-op available for LAN play.  Hahaha, Hamachi users unite!

Man, I am ever so tired.  Coming home from a long day of work, then go to class, and then come back to answer a bunch of comments is what I call a long day. :0

Anyway, last week I have added a new post to the V2 blog.  This time I have written about wisestamp.com, a website that features a nifty firefox plugin that a user can use to to insert HTML signatures into your webmail.

If you a new demonoid user, you may have seen me using it while contacting you on your status.  If you had not known, this week is the PDC conference, or Professional Developer’s Conference.  The biggest news of the week?  WINDOWS 7!  Some say it is “Vista 2.0”.  Yes, the development time will be much quicker, as Vista 7 will be built in modules.  If a feature is in Windows 7, it is deemed complete.  No more half-ass features.

Anyway, go to gizmodo.com and check out the latest stuff on Windows 7.  Will I use it someday?  Probably not, considering that Windows XP is still going strong since its creation back in 2001.  Right now I am using the Mini-XP edition, which is very nice.   Imagine a full Windows install occupying less than 500 megs of space on your hard drive, compared to Vista’s 6GB+ requirement.  Now that is sexy.

Demonoid invites are still going strong!  Every day there is almost a new participant asking for a code.  What used to be 10 codes at the beginning of the week is slowly dwindling down to zero.  Now that is success.

I think I am having withdrawal from the absence of “daily postings”.  Is this normal? ;0  It is different to not making sure we are posting every single day.  Frankly, I was being burnt out, and now with staff being very ridiculously busy with non-V1 stuff, I’m the sole bread producer here now. :0  It’s OK I suppose.  I enjoy coming here after work and see what new comments awaits me.  Lol.

As expected, the Demonoid list never ever dies.  It seems that every few days that a newcomer comes along and asks for an invite, which is perfectly fine.  Now what really ticks me off is that there have been times when people come asking for an invite, then I send them an initial e-mail confirming if they need an invite.

Guess what?  They never respond to that first e-mail.  Maybe my e-mail got into their spam box.  Oh well, I say.  If I’m not important enough to be looked after in the spam box, then perhaps you don’t deserve the demonoid code, right?

What else is new?  Not much I suppose.  Content is still brewing for V2, and it takes awhile to really think of a good tutorial, and lay it out.  I hope to have the next tutorial out this weekend, but we shall see.

Eventually, V2 will start growing, and Voltaire will optimize the blog for additional search engine traffic.  Until that day comes, you will have to visit the V2 blog manually at http://tug.cjb.net.

This is all I have for now.  Red Alert 3 is coming, so is Deadspace for PC.  Sweet!  Far Cry 2 will be here shortly, as well as World at War.  It is a great time to be a gamer now. 😉

Ok, so the V2 blog is off to a good start.  I’m not sure why the articles are not showing up explitcitly in search engines. Maybe its the way the database is setup, or maybe we need to optimize it some more?

Anyway, last week I wrote a new post that is start to rack up hits.  It is titled:

A Guide to Free Porn Tutorial – No Passwords Required!

Lol.  The first main guide is something adult erotica related.  Oh well, got to spike the newfound interest somewhere , right?  However, to make this even more different, I have implemented a form which requires the user to manually enter in some details and get back to me.  Also, the user has to post a comment in the thread, otherwise they don’t get the special list from me. :0

It is the least I can ask, right?  I don’t know what the other authors are doing tutorial wise, but I’m sure when they finally release the articles it will be pretty good.  The next tutorial I will do is going back to the PS2 roots.  I’ll keep it a suprise though.

Did you know on V2 that we have a form for you to request tutorials?  Anything that is submitted via form via V2 is sent to me, so I am the only one who will read it.  Be as honest as you want, we take all forms of criticism seriously…except eggs. ;p

Why “tug”?  It is simple, short, and stands for “The Underground”.  Content on V2 is pretty close to nil, but trust me, we got some articles brewing in the background.  It will just take a while is all.  Tomorrow and the rest of the week I will not be writing an article, unless something catches my mind and I just have to write about it. ;0

This is all I have for you guys right now.  My first article on V2 will be a surprise, and I am thinking of another video tutorial (not PS2 related), which will definitely have your ears perked once you hear what I’m talking about next.  It really is mischevious.  Muahah.

I will keep this short.  Yesterday I made a post on how my roomate is the devil.  Luckily for me, just 3 more days and he is gone forever!  No more listening to his girl troubles, or his school troubles, or whatever.  Just peace and quiet.  That is what I’m talking about.

Onto other news, the demonoid spreadsheet is still going strong.  Next month I will poll the whole group for demonoid codes and we will proceed from there.  Not much else is going on, except new author Skitzo is taking up Saturday posts with articles on gaming.  Wish him luck!

The Dark Knight has broken the $400 million mark in about 20 days (?), and the previous record was held by Shrek 2 where it took 44 days to breach that mark. The Dark Knight is doing fairly  well I may add.

All right, time to more important business.  These last few days I have been selecting random people off the Demonoid wait list for invites.   The Demonoid ring is working, whether you believe it or not.

In order to keep sanity, I have decided to not allow the community to edit the spreadsheet.  It was an experiment, and although it works, I am not sure if I am seeing spam emails or not.  For now, I am the only one who can put names onto the spreadsheet.

The purple colors mean people who are verified users on Demonoid and confirmed their invite.  The yellow rows mean those people are slated for deletion because they failed to answer my e-mail.

The spreadsheet is coming along nicely.  If you want in, please post a comment on the Demonoid thread.  Thanks!

The Dark Knight!  Have you guys seen it?  I  haven’t, but I am waiting for this weekend to see it in Imax.  Did you know the movie has about 20 minutues of Imax footage for all the best action scenes?  Yup, and it is no surprise that the Imax revenue went up 18% last week.

Behind the scenes, nothing much is going on.  It is summer here, and I do my very best to keep things fresh around here.  Last week I talked about some new videos I got on my youtube page, which are just further clarifications on how to use swap magic and boot off a USB hard drive with USB Extreme.

Currently, I do not have a tutorial or video tutorial for that matter that shows you how to make your own backups of your PS2 games, but that is relatively easy.  Voltaire is somewhat quiet this days, and Jvalin has agreed to write on new things as they come up. Last week I have no idea where GN was for his Thursday post, so I have implemented a “Back to the Future” post in his abscence.
