7-5-13: Initial release.
So this past week, I had come home from work to login to my Internet, only to be greeted by a splashscreen from my ISP saying that a device(s) on my network is participating or infected as part of a botnet.
Before I could go back online, I had to agree to a statement that I would take care of the issue. Otherwise, I would be disconnected from the Internet again until it was taken care of.
So I thought about it and the only device that I use a lot (more than my desktop actually) is my Dell Mini 1012 netbook. I did a virus scan, and malware scan, and found nothing.
But just because I didn’t find anything doesn’t necessarily mean that it was gone, it could just be hidden. I didn’t want to take a chance, so what did I do? I formatted the laptop, reinstalled Windows 8, and I was good to go. The coolest part about the whole thing? I didn’t need to backup any major files, or save my bookmarks or anything. Why? Because due to the way I have setup my laptop, those type of worries that would plague traditional computer users I don’t have. I’ll tell you what I did so you too can run a lean, mean, computing machine.

Did you know that if you are a Windows 8 Pro user right now, and that if you wanted to get the Windows Media Center package, you can get it for free for a limited time with an upgrade key through January 31st, 2013?
Yup, its true. If you go to the link at the end of this blog article, all you got to do is enter in your e-mail address, and within 72 hours, an activation key is sent to you. I got mine within a minute of submission.
Now I’ve been scouring the Internet for last few minutes, and I’m not 100% sure if you can use the Windows WMP upgrade key from a fresh install of an unactivated Windows 8 Pro or not. I’m thinking yes, but not so sure.
Will the WMP key work if you are upgrading from Windows XP, Vista, or 7? I’m not sure myself on that one either, I can only talk about what the key is meant to do.
If you know the answer, or want to experiment, let us know in the comments! Thanks!

12-23-12: It appears that the file I had used before doesn’t work. I found a new activator that works better. See the update at the bottom.
I was going to actually post this tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait that long to talk about the success I had today in trying to prove to my friends that nothing is impossible.
Before I talk about my story, I want to say that I own a legitimate copy of Windows 7, and I really don’t have any plans to go with Windows 8 (for numerous reasons I won’t state here).
Nonetheless, I wanted to demonstrate that yes, cracking Windows 8 registration is easy, and you could activate it on your own through other means. This article is simply for educational purposes. How you wish to proceed forward is up to you. I used it on my friend’s unactivated copy of legit Windows 8 as a test bed as I don’t have a copy of Windows 8 myself personally. So let’s begin!
