Life Milestone – Marriage
Revisions:
9-19-13: Initial Release.
So as you guys may have known, its been quiet here on the blog for the last few weeks. No, I’m not dead, and I’m not writing for the sake of not writing.
Oh, it’s actually the opposite. I’ve been so busy with my personal life that I just didn’t get a chance to write something until now. If you think this was bad, you should see my Youtube inbox, its just busting at the seams with 50+ comments over 3 weeks worth just waiting to be answered.
So I’ll get to the point. On August 31st, I held my own wedding, and now I’m a married man. Being that this is the Internet, I’m not that comfortable sharing specific details or pictures of the wedding online here in such an open medium. Perhaps if you were a facebook friend, you might see the wedding album.
If you are really interested in seeing a wedding picture, leave a comment and I’ll think about it. π
In the meantime, what I can say about the wedding is that I am astonished in how much work and effort is required to pull it off. I could tell stories upon stories about the days leading up to the wedding, including the wedding itself, but I will save you the details.
In summary, I’ve been planning this wedding with my fiance since last November. The important thing at the time was booking the Church and the wedding date. Once that was taken care of, next step was to find a suitable restaurant to hold the reception.
Once that was done, then its all the small stuff to worry about: DJ, photographer, video camera man, flowers, wedding invitations, wedding menus, wedding dress, tuxedos, bridesmaids, groomsmen, hotel arrangements, and the list goes on and on.
Did you know that there are lots of books at the library (or even online if you know where to look) that helps with wedding planning? My wife and I did this with the help from my own and her parents, but still it was a lot of work. I totally understand why some people pursue wedding planning as a full career!
All I can say now that the wedding is over is that it has changed me. I can’t explain what it feels like to be with someone that you love, in the eyes of God, and showing your commitment and symbol of love in front of your friends and family. It’s just amazing.
Some of you guys (and gals) out there maybe married, or in a relationship, or maybe just single. I strongly believe that there is someone out there for everyone, its just a matter of time.
If you are in a relationship already, let us know what are your tips to make it last and work! π
